The Only Way to Build a Better Body

I sought more information on High Intensity training after reading a debate of volume training vs. High Intensity by Mike Mentzer and Dr. Stone in All Natural Muscular Development Magazine. Prior to reading the article I had not heard of High Intensity training. After reading the article I realized that I had no basic principles upon which I was building my training program. I would read an article in Flex and follow that, then another in MM2K and follow that; some routines produced results and some did not. I purchased the tape series and listened several times to each tape. I was apprehensive about trying the program because I too suffered from the notion that if I was not training 4 days a week for two hours I would lose my hard earned gains. Finally, I decided to follow the program and follow it exactly. I decided that even if the training program was wrong, I was better off having a rational basis for what I was doing and why I was doing it, then continuing to follow the next magazine article. The program presented also made a lot of sense. The results were nothing short of spectacular. For a 41 year old gu y I am very impressed. The information presented on the tapes is clear and easy to follow. I highly recommend this tape series to anyone who is serious about building a better body. Like me, it may also help you the think more critically about many other aspects of your life. Thanks Mike

Needed: less philosophy, more fitness. Otherwise, GREAT!

Mentzer's approach to strength building is exactly what we need - a true plan that really works! I've used this protocal now for almost 3 months and the results are fantastic. I am 52 and I have become more muscular now than ever in my life. What a relief to find out that you don't have to be a gym rat to achieve a physique that gets second looks.
A disappointment is the proportion of the tapes spent on philosophy. Only about half of the set concerns exercises and diet. I would have liked much more description of the exercises and why these particular routines were chosen. We are asked to have faith that they are the best. Incidently, having faith in what we are told is exactly what we are asked not to do in the philosophical Tape 1. I would describe the exercises in the sequencing chosen, however, as elegent. Only one suggestion from my experience - combine superslow cadence with High Intensity.
If you would like to build muscle, you won't find a more rational or efficient technique.

The oft-maligned and misunderstood Mentzer has created a masterpiece with these audiotapes, debunking those preaching the more-is-better nonsense. As for results, you will receive such if you follow the ideas contained inside. AMAZING.
